About The artist
My name is Rosy. I am a theatre maker, performer and puppeteer with a specialism in Object Theatre.
I am the artist behind this collaborative international object theatre project.
I grew up in the hobbit hills of the Peak District National Park (UK). I have a BA (Hons) in Drama from Northumbria University in Newcastle (UK). This degree was unique, focusing on drama within a community context, and is where I explored the possibilities of using theatre as a tool to connect with others.
After graduating I worked as a Theatre Practitioner within the community and outreach department of Theatre by the Lake in Cumbria (UK). Here I told many and made 1000 stories underneath the boughs of the Storytree - an interactive theatre and storytelling project designed to connect people through sharing and performing their stories. But all the tales of adventure got under my skin and the time came for me to go on an adventure of my own…
Well one adventure soon turned into another, and since leaving the UK, I have travelled, lived, worked and studied around the world. I’ve met people from so many countries, had too many jobs to count and spent at least 6 months living in -0°C in Moscow (Russia).
I completed a Postgraduate Specialisation in Object Theatre, Interaction and New Media at the National University of Arts in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and mastered español! The Travelling Light Project began as my thesis for this course.
I am now continuing my journey in Melbourne (Australia) where I am working as a freelance puppeteer, developing my shadow puppetry work and working on the next performance of Travelling Light: The World in a Suitcase.
The world in a suitcase...
